Speaking Often

Jesus declared the greatest commandment in the law to be, "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." (Deuteronomy 6:4-5)

The characteristics of one who indeed loves the Lord so completely can be seen in the passage following that commandment: "And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes." (Deuteronomy 6:6-8)

The more time Christians spend in reading the word of God and in meditating upon it and Him, the more God will reveal Himself to them. God's word will become newer and greater to us the more we read it and think on it; it is new every morning. God delights in those who think on Him- those who seek the gift of His understanding, and call upon Him to show them still more great and mighty things, which they know not. Those who do so faithfully will find an overwhelming treasure of good things to speak about with others; for God reveals the deep and secret things. "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." (Luke 6:45)

This blog is dedicated to encouraging meditation upon and discussion of the things of the Living God.

"...the desire of [our] soul [is] to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee." (Isaiah 26:8b)
